Our story
We started Hatched because we kept seeing the same thing: small New Zealand businesses paying monthly for software they didn’t fully control. Opaque hosting. Unclear ownership. A vendor relationship that only felt healthy while the retainer was open.
The alternative is straightforward to say and harder to execute: not every piece of software needs to be a service. SaaS makes sense when something is genuinely complex to operate, or constantly evolving. Most of what small businesses rent monthly isn't that — it's a solved problem with a subscription attached. A website. A booking tool. An internal dashboard. These are finished things. We build them as products: one price, handed over clean, yours to run without us.
We focus on NZ SMEs — practical owners and teams who want digital to work for their business, not complicate it. They don’t want a black box. They don’t want another monthly bill. They want something built properly, handed over clearly, and that just works.
We still build our own products — it keeps our standards honest. Every client build gets the same discipline.
