From a notebook on the dashboard to paid before smoko.
GoSmoko is job management software for plumbers, sparkies, chippies, roofers and HVAC crews across New Zealand and Australia. It started as an idea in Taranaki. Hatched designed it, built it and runs it: a web app for the office, a phone app for the crew, payments and accounting built in.

The problem
Good tradies were losing work to paperwork.
It started with a plumber spending most of Sunday turning a notebook into quotes. He was good at plumbing and losing jobs to people who were faster at admin. That isn't a work-ethic problem. It's a software problem, and the software on the market didn't fit a crew of four.
Sunday nights in the notebook
Quotes were written up at the kitchen table after a full day on the tools. By then the customer had often rung someone faster.
Spreadsheet or ERP
One end of the market is a shared spreadsheet that breaks the moment you hire someone. The other is field-service software with a six-week setup and a consultant.
Money lost at the handoff
Hours on a scrap of paper, parts on a supplier docket, the invoice typed up days later. Every gap between the work and the bill leaks money.
How we fixed it
We built the handoff, not just the screens.
The brief was everything a trade business runs on and nothing it doesn't. So we designed GoSmoko around one working day, from clocking on to getting paid. These are the real screens.
- 07:00
The day is on the phone
Clock on, see today's jobs in order, start the first one. No office call, no group chat. It works offline in a basement or out of reception.

- 08:30
The office sees what's waiting
One screen for whoever runs the business: jobs ready to invoice, timesheets to check, purchase orders to chase. When it all says clear, the admin is done.

- 11:00
One card per job
Customer, site, to-dos, hours, parts, photos and notes in one place. Quote it, invoice it or rebook it from the same card.

- 15:00
Invoiced before the van is packed
The invoice builds itself from the hours and parts on the job. The customer gets a clean GST invoice they can pay by card from the email, and it lands in Xero or MYOB on its own.

The outcome
A complete product, live and growing.
GoSmoko runs the whole loop, enquiry to quote to job to paid, on the desk and in the van. It's live at gosmoko.com with a free trial, an Android app, and crews in New Zealand using it on real jobs.

Desk and phone
One product. The phone app works offline and syncs when signal comes back.
Quote to paid
Enquiry, quote, job and invoice are one flow, so nothing is typed twice.
Get paid by card
Stripe Pay now on every invoice, reconciled automatically.
Books stay in step
Invoices push to Xero or MYOB and payments come back.
Paperwork on the job
Compliance certificates and safety forms issued from the job, with a public link.
Talk it out
Say the job out loud or paste a note, and check the draft it makes.
The brand and website
A brand tradies trust at a glance.
Lime on ink, plain words, and pictures of the actual product. The site sells the trial, explains every feature, and loads fast on a phone in a ute.

The scope
One partner for all of it.
GoSmoko didn't need five suppliers. Design, build, payments, integrations and the running of it all came through Hatched, managed from one dashboard. It grew one scope at a time, and it's still growing.
- Product design and brand
- Web app and mobile app
- Subscriptions with a free trial
- Stripe payments
- Xero and MYOB sync
- Stock, purchase orders and reporting
- Marketing site
- Hosting, support and ongoing changes
